We’ve been quiet here for quite some time. Our last post was more than a month ago.
Why?
The reason is simple. We believe that the the cast has hardened. And what we are seeing is more and more heat and less and less light. We find it boring, and we have other things to do.
We know how we are voting.
While everyone here at O-t-c is registered as Independent, we will be voting nearly straight Republican line, unless we believe that an Independent who is truly conservative has a real chance of winning. We would love nothing better than to have conservative Independents win. But they have a job to do: they have to make a very strong showing in the polls. If they can’t do that, then they haven’t closed the deal with the voters, and we’re hanged if we’re going to let Democrats have another chance to control things without a fight.
We want Democrats – and liberals everywhere – to have sleepless nights. We want them to worry about life. We have gone, ad nauseum, into the reasons why. Those reasons have neither changed, nor do they need any updating.
As a matter of fairness (which the Left knows nothing about): We watched much of Obama’s news conference yesterday regarding the disaster south of Louisiana in the Gulf. We believe he acquitted himself well during this conference. We say to him this: what a shame. What a shame that you didn’t act like this with respect to the banking and credit crisis. What a shame you didn’t act like this with respect to the health insurance deformations you’ve inflicted on this country. In THIS disaster you seem to be doing some of the right things; and you haven’t demonized BP. Why couldn’t you do that during the fiscal disasters of last year? Why couldn’t you do that when you were nationalizing automobile companies?
If you had been Presidential with the other problems this country faced and faces, we would have felt no need to start Off-the-cliff.com in the first place!
What a shame, Mr. President. A dirty rotten shame.

An Open Letter to President Barak Hussein Obama – mmm mmm mmm:
An AP analysis of your Presidency in 2009 finds you irritated by the fact that people don’t remember”how bad it was” when you took office and how much “progress” you’ve generated for us in 2009. The AP analysis doesn’t analyze much, so we’re here to help. But let’s first begin with what little analysis it does do, because for the most part, it is reasonably well done.
The AP’s Ben Feller says it quite well: “He says “the buck stops with me,” but nearly a year into office, President Barack Obama is still blaming a lot of the nation’s troubles — the economy, terrorism, health care — on George W. Bush.”

Get a load of this. The same Federal Government that wants to manage all of our health care, shows what a heavy boot it is ready to place on your throat if you get out of line sufficiently to annoy it. Since Obama’s DHS can’t go after terrorists in a competent way, they decided to sick the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) after – wait for it – bloggers!
As if that’s bad enough, it isn’t! Not only did they go after bloggers because some directive from their Keystone Cops offices was leaked (how is that the bloggers’ faults?), but apparently the directive includes language that lets some travelers off the hook from the inconvenience the rest of us have to put up with.
From the article: “It also listed people who would be exempted from these screening procedures such as heads of state and their families.”
Oh it’s good to be a king or a tin-pot dictator.
We have NEVER seen this level of incompetence and nonchalance with respect to the welfare of We the People; not even during the abysmal misery-indexed Carter years.
We call on President Obama to resign – along with his entire crew – along with every Democrat in Congress. You are all a disgrace to the flag of this country.

We’ve been following the latest pollywockabobble coming out of the White House and the President’s administration regarding their health care deformation efforts.
A so-called task force has come out with recommendations that women between ages of 40 and 50 just shut up and die. Same for women over 75. The reason? It costs too much and women – you know – all you real women who are supposedly any man’s equal – are really too fragile to deal with false positives coming from breast exams. So rather than go through all that bother of examining yourselves for small lumps that weren’t there last month or for getting yearly check-ups, you should now just accept your fates: in other words – don’t complain. Just shut up and die.
This is Obamacare. This is what you who voted for this assinine community organizer have set into motion.
Anyone but Bush is not a good choice – especially when Bush wasn’t running!
But no. You wanted “change,” without ever having the curiosity about who it was that was going to make the changes happen. You wanted “change” without ever asking what he was going to change. And you still love this guy, don’t you. Oh – you get that tingle up the spine and you fantasize about him having his way with you, don’t you ladies.
But he’s not your doctor. He’s not the guy who’s going to say to you:
Sorry – we can’t perform that mammography you want because your between the ages of 40 and 50 and the government says that you’re healthy. Symptoms? Don’t talk to us about symptoms. You’re healthy. Don’t you understand plain language? Don’t get huffy with me. I’m now a government agent and we have rules to take care of people who are not nice to government agents. Of course I work for the people, but your not the the people. Your a single person and a stupid woman who thinks she knows better than the government what kind of care she needs. If you will not calm down, I will have to call in law enforcement and you will have to pay a fine. Of course the rules have changed. What did you think you were getting when you told Congress you wanted the public option? You thought you’d be treated right? When has the government EVER treated you right if it didn’t have to? And lady, we don’t have to. Next!
We despise President Obama. We think he is the most abominable man who ever sullied the halls of the White House and that takes some doing, what with jerks like Carter and Nixon. Obama makes Carter look competent, which a few months ago we would have considered impossible.
So – for election 2010 and 2012, we have a very simple recommendation: vote for whoever will keep Obamacare from becoming our system. Vote for people who will commit to repealing whatever this lunatic gets passed. Vote for people who cannot be bought by a hundred million dollar hospital for some university in their state. We believe that there are a few – very few good Democrats. We believe there are some terrible Republicans. We are going to do our best to make a recommendations list as Elections 2010 and 2012 near. We will also try to indicate why we make the recommendations we do. But for now, here’s a good rule of thumb. Vote out the Democrats. If there’s a Republican you can truly get behind, do that. But this is mainly an”election against”rather than an “election for.” There are a few exceptions and we will try to indicate who they are. But all other things being equal, vote out the Democrat. Pure and simple.
And then maybe, ladies, you can be assured of maintaining the healthcare that you should be getting and avoid being patronized by idiots in the White House who think of you as fragile little porcelin dolls who can’t handle a false positive. If it’s false that’s a good thing, isn’t it? Sheesh.

Everyone seemingly has an idiot’s vocabulary. We don’t get it. Here at Off-the-cliff.com, we pride ourselves on using words appropriately.
The word tragedy is rightly used when someone dies from an earthquake, hurricane or train wreck. It’s a tragedy when someone goes off a creaky old bridge. It’s even a tragedy when someone has an heretofore unknown alergic reaction to a generally benign medication, and begins to stutter and belch uncontrollably.
These are tragedies.
Violent acts are not tragedies. When you are robbed at gunpoint, that’s not a tragedy. If you are shot dead, that’s not a tragedy either.
The correct word is atrocity.
We are so sick and tired of hearing about the “tragedy” at Fort Hood. It wasn’t tragic at all. It was atrocious. It was dispicable. It was worthy of the greatest amount of scorn that one can heap upon one individual.
What is also an atrocity, is the lamestream media (thank you Bernie Goldberg) is the Obama Administration playing the role of the Keystone Kops in this mess. Instead of calling on Muslims to condemn the act of the madman Hasan (in much the same way that Christians are called upon to disavow violence when a loon bombs an abortion clinic), our Administration worries about non-existent “backlashes” against “innocent Muslims.”
By whom, Mr. President? Who are you anticipating going on a violent tirade against “innocent Muslims.” We haven’t seen anyone doing any such thing.
All we see is you, once again, Mr. President, being the Coward-in-Chief. Afraid that any showing of American strength – rightly applied – will lose you “friends” in the international community. Are you so full of yourself, Mr. Obama, that you can’t be a decent Commander-in-Chief? Are you such an imbecile that you can’t make moral judgments along rational lines?
Apparently not. Apparently all you are good for, Mr. Obama is an object lesson of how not to do things when you have power.
We have waited and waited and waited for you to do one thing right, Mr. Obama. (Though we knew better than to hold our breath.) You continuaully let America down. Would you please let us buy you a one-way ticket to France or Holland and even put you up in a good apartment for 3 years where you can be on vacation for the rest of your term. As bad as Joe Biden would be as President, you are infinitely worse. Please, Mr. President. If you have even one patriotic bone in that tiny-brained body of yours – won’t you please go on vacation? You will do far less damage to our Republic if you just leave.
Oh – and take that witch, Pelosi with you, as both of you are atrocious blights on the public’s well-being.
