More to come…

We read a story about the difficulties faced by the Marines and others in our armed forces as they wage the fight on our behalf in Afghanistan.

Wars have always been difficult. We would not expect this one to be a cake-walk by any means, and this entry should also be read as a salute to the folks protecting our families and We the People of these United States.

We also realize that it is for the generals and admirals to do most of the efforts to rally the troops – to remind them afresh about how proud the American civilians back home are of their herculean efforts – to clean out despotism from a society that does not want to have it cleaned out; to bring a modicum of civilization to a desolate corner of the world (not a copy of American civilization – but letting their civilization flourish free from carnage).

But we are very mindful of the fact that George W. Bush knew how to prosecute a war (even if he made mistakes – as he did before the surge in Iraq). He did something we have not seen the current President do: He went into the war theater to break bread with the troops. He made clear in numerous speeches that America had the backs of each and every American soldier, as every good American does.

We ask you, Mr. Obama. You have time to visit Copenhagen to pick up a stupidly given award. You have time to spend time trying to get environmentalism boondoggles going, also in Copenhagen. We realize you can’t have the finest meals that Europe can provide in Afghanistan. We realize you can’t hob nob with European aristocrats and world leaders in Afghanistan. But we think you can hob nob with some people who are far more important to your administration and to the American people: the American military personnel.

You might be coolly received at first, since you have seen fit to dis them for the most part.  (Explain to us again how your decision about troop levels in Afghanistan is so very different from General McCrystals that it took months of agonizing to make it?)  But we believe that if you made overtures to show that you really do have their backs (assuming of course, that this is accurate), they would come to see it and to appreciate it.

This would mean severing ties with your Leftist base. So the question seems to be this: who do you consider more important, Mr. President?  The jerk-water leaders in Europe who will hold America’s coat while we do the fighting that they should be up to their butts in, right along side us? Or is it your Leftist base that would come down on you like a ton of bricks, calling you a traitor for doing the noble thing of supporting the American soldiers who give the Leftists the ability to come down on you like a ton of bricks?

Or will you break bread with our American soldiers, Mr. President. Have you no rallying words for them as they face a very tough, ruthless enemy who doesn’t have his hands tied behind his back because of some idiots back home saying that our guys have to play bridge while the enemy is playing tackle football?

Where are your loyalties, Mr. President? We at O-t-c would really like to know.

Henry Drummond: Is that the way of things? God tells Brady what is good; to be against Brady is to be against God!
Matthew Harrison Brady: No! Every man is a free agent!
Henry Drummond: Then what is Bertram Cates doing in the Hillsboro Jail?

Apparently “being black” means you’d better live on the Democrat plantation.  According to that arbiter of all things good and pure, Jesse “The Race Card Dealer from the Bottom fo the Deck” Jackson has called Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.) on his carpet (not the carpet, because we believe that Jackson doesn’t own the carpet), saying “We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill,” Jackson said at a reception Wednesday night. “You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.” Check it out.

We’ve seen this done before in the movies. Inherit the Wind had this scene:

Henry Drummond: Is that the way of things? God tells Brady what is good; to be against Brady is to be against God!

Matthew Harrison Brady: No! Every man is a free agent!

Henry Drummond: Then what is Bertram Cates doing in the Hillsboro Jail?

Replace Drummond with Morgan Freeman and Brady with Jessee Jackson, and tell us there’s no similarity.  God tells Rev. Jackson what is good for black men. And Jesse Jackson tells other black men. Sigh – this is so bo-o-o-oring.

Give up the blasted hyphens, won’t you? Don’t be a black-American or a African-American. Be an AMERICAN, blast it all! Just that. An American. That is the highest public rank you can have in our society. It is the only public rank that we at O-t-c will ever honor. If you come to us and call yourself a hyphenated American, we’ll toss you on your ear, tell you to read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and look at yourself in the mirror. And if you continue to come to us as a hyphenated American, we’ll reserve a dunce cap with your name on it.

In our view, you’re an American or you’re not. You might be an American with relatively recent African heritage behind you. But what is in your mind, your heart, and your soul? These are the only things that matter to us at O-t-c. What are your intentions? What are your aspirations? Must you be “of the herd” or do you have a mind, heart and soul of your own? Do you really need to live on an idiot’s plantation anymore?

This is precisely why we love Morgan Freeman – a man with darker pigment than many, who has thrown away his hyphen to attain the highest rank avaiable to any citizen: American.

Do you?

Day 292

“I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!” – Wicked Witch of the West

So it looks like the Wicked Witch and her winged monkeys passed their version of health care deformation. We wil try to find the roll call of who voted for this monstrosity so they can be targeted to be voted out come November 2010. We warned you winged monkeys. Do NOT come complaining to us about how your arm was twisted, or how you didn’t know what We the People meant this past July.

If you voted for Pelosi, you voted against America, and are borderline traitors. Al Qaieda couldn’t do as much damage as you are trying to do. They should just sit back, relax and watch you bring a once-great country to its knees.

Looks like Obama’s bent on doing that every chance he gets anyway.

We need the roll call for the vote. When we have it – we’ll post it prominently on this site.

Mr. President,

You have started a war with FoxNews. On Thursday you tried to put a physical wedge between FoxNews and the other broadcast media members of the White House pool. Please do not say that it was one of your under-minions who did it. This happened on your watch, Mr. President.

Thankfully, the other media, who would love nothing better than to trounce FoxNews decided that they would actually be the Fourth Estate this time, and told you to go —k yourself. They said no, and with your tail between your legs, you allowed FoxNews to conduct the interview that it was entitled to do.

Increasingly, Americans are seeing you for who you really are: a bully, a coward and a putz.

You could, of course, at any time, change your tune and become a real man, and do the honorable thing. You could go on national TV – we think using the White House pool feed – and say something like this:

“On Thursday, my Administration over-reached and did something no Administration should ever do: we tried to censor the news by ostracizing FoxNews. This was more than an error in judgment. This was about as evil as an American administration can be with respect to a Constitutionally protected profession. FoxNews has every right to cover the White House; every bit as much as the media outlets that we like. We, and I in particular, am deeply sorry about this, and it will never happen again. We are not conducting an investigation. No investigation is needed. It will never happen again. I have told my Chief of Staff that his job is on the line. If anything like this ever happens again, he will be fired. From this point forward, this Administration will never overreach again. We deeply apologize to FoxNews, and we are even more deeply sorry to the millions of people who watch and get their information from FoxNews. We do not agree with much of what they say. But they have every bit as much of the Constitutional right to freedom of the press as does CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN. Again – I am deeply sorry, and on behalf of my administration, I will make sure that this, nor anything like it, ever happens again. I hope the American people and FoxNews will accept my apology.”

THAT, Mr. President is what a real man would say. That, Mr. President is what a patriot would say. That Mr. President is what an AMERICAN (as distinct from a Venezuela-style thug) would say.

We’re not holding our breath.
