One of the more amazing stories we’ve read regarding the President’s current “thinking” can be found in an AP article called Obama admits health care overhaul may die on the Hill. Two items struck us:
1 – ‘”I think it’s very important for us to have a methodical, open process over the next several weeks, and then let’s go ahead and make a decision,” Obama said at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser.’
Note how this contrasts with his previous combativeness: “Hit ‘em twice as hard.” You’re finding out Mr. President that the phrase “Don’t tread on me” has a real meaning. You and that evil Witch of the West, Pelosi can’t “hit” the American people as though we’re children to be put in our places. You work for us – not the other way around.
2 – “I think we should be very deliberate, take our time. We’re going to be moving a jobs package forward over the next several weeks; that’s the thing that’s most urgent right now in the minds of Americans all across the country.”
If you had thought this way back in March of last year; had you called for a truly civil discussion – and not tried to ram the health care boondoggle that we all came to know and hate down our collective (not collectivist) throats, the tea party movement and the awakened sleeping giant at the town hall meetings might never have happened.
One of us had a sit-down with a local director for her U.S. Senator. As this director took notes based on what she was saying, she could see the director nodding his head in agreement. Things like: you can’t insult the intelligence of the people paying the bills. We’re not astroturf, Mr. President. We’re not Nazis, and for the Wicked Witch of the West to call us that, and for you to not tell her to knock it off – well that spoke volumes. Treat us with the respect you want to have visited upon you, Mr. President, and we can have a real discussion/debate. If you can’t manage that, we’re going to hit you twice as hard come November.

America
Rising?
Day 3?
Massachusetts, you made us proud. You have destroyed Pelosi’s ability to ram health care insurance deformation down our throats.
All we can say, here at O-t-c, is “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

America
Rising?
Day 1?
Massachusetts, you made us proud. You not only voted for Scott Brown, but you did so with such ferocity that it was an ACORN-SEIU-proof vote. No Black Panthers could stop this train. No SEIU thugs could beat you into submission. None of the President’s minions could stop We the People.
As in the formative days of this country, Massachusetts, you have led the way!
What a difference a day makes. It almost – not quite – makes us think about retiring this blog! Of course, that would be premature. We cannot rest until the Obama-Pelois-Reid hydra is removed from the seats of power and America can once again breathe free.
But what a night! What a night.

Apparently “being black” means you’d better live on the Democrat plantation. According to that arbiter of all things good and pure, Jesse “The Race Card Dealer from the Bottom fo the Deck” Jackson has called Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.) on his carpet (not the carpet, because we believe that Jackson doesn’t own the carpet), saying “We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill,” Jackson said at a reception Wednesday night. “You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.” Check it out.
We’ve seen this done before in the movies. Inherit the Wind had this scene:
Henry Drummond: Is that the way of things? God tells Brady what is good; to be against Brady is to be against God!
Matthew Harrison Brady: No! Every man is a free agent!
Henry Drummond: Then what is Bertram Cates doing in the Hillsboro Jail?
Replace Drummond with Morgan Freeman and Brady with Jessee Jackson, and tell us there’s no similarity. God tells Rev. Jackson what is good for black men. And Jesse Jackson tells other black men. Sigh – this is so bo-o-o-oring.
Give up the blasted hyphens, won’t you? Don’t be a black-American or a African-American. Be an AMERICAN, blast it all! Just that. An American. That is the highest public rank you can have in our society. It is the only public rank that we at O-t-c will ever honor. If you come to us and call yourself a hyphenated American, we’ll toss you on your ear, tell you to read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and look at yourself in the mirror. And if you continue to come to us as a hyphenated American, we’ll reserve a dunce cap with your name on it.
In our view, you’re an American or you’re not. You might be an American with relatively recent African heritage behind you. But what is in your mind, your heart, and your soul? These are the only things that matter to us at O-t-c. What are your intentions? What are your aspirations? Must you be “of the herd” or do you have a mind, heart and soul of your own? Do you really need to live on an idiot’s plantation anymore?
This is precisely why we love Morgan Freeman – a man with darker pigment than many, who has thrown away his hyphen to attain the highest rank avaiable to any citizen: American.
Do you?

The newspaper, AJC, reports that the local elections fell along racial lines. We add, “sort of.” From the article: “Mary Norwood swept predominately white precincts of the city Tuesday, and also found support in key black precincts, while former state senator Kasim Reed dominated his base in southwest Atlanta and had a strong showing in predominately black areas of northwest and west Atlanta.”
Now – how is it that Mary Norwood, who is of lighter complexion, can “find support in key black (i.e., darker complexion) precints” and have the “election fall along racial lines?”
We here at O-t-c find ourselves so bored and so disgusted with breaking things down on race – or any other stupid hyphen.
Either something is good for the nation or it’s not. Either something is good for Atlanta – as a whole – or it’s not. Why does it have to always – always – be about race.
We are reminded how people of lighter complexion were said to be closet racists for not supporting Obama when 90%+ of people of darker complexion voted for the Socialist putz, but they weren’t deemed racist at all. Oh no. That was something else. What that something might be called by the mainstream fringe media, we still don’t know. (We call it racist poppycock.)
Again – it’s such a yawner and such a disappointment.
When will people of all complexions throw away their stupid hyphens. If there’s anything that makes a person a slave in modern American society, it’s your hyphen. Throw it away and declare yourself to be a free citizen. A free American. Throw away your hyphen and vote for pragmatism, for things that work, for things that enrich our lives instead of make us dependent on government. Put government into the small box it’s supposed to be in. That is what it means to be free.
That is what it means to be free! End of story.
