We came across this very interesting bit of prose by George Orwell of 1984 fame. Anyone who needs a reminder of the reasons to fear overly strong government (whether from the right, left, above or below – etc.), should read this book. There’s no other like it, and if it doesn’t strike terror into your heart, you’re simply an unimaginative simpleton that should be reading a romance novel instead of thinking about things political.
This piece by Orwell is called Politics And The English Language. Read this, and the next time you listen to Obama as he moves his lips, see how many of Orwell’s cautions you can catch.
Remember – this is the guy who cannot – simply cannot – apologize. Instead he “miscalibrates” his words.
Who talks like that? Apparently logs of folks who’s language was catalogued by Orwell way back in 1947. Undoubtedly, Orwell was racist with respect to Obama (even though the Messiah was not yet born).

Another one from the Golden Age of television, Soupy Sales, died today. He was a real card and while we wouldn’t call him elegant (we think he’s agree that he wasn’t), we believe he was one of the funniest clowns in the business. For a nice rundown on his life, you can read an obit here.
