Anyone who reads this blog – or just scans it – knows we like FoxNews. We believe that they are, in the main, fair and balanced in their reportage, just as they say they are. They lean heavily right in their commentary, but in the journalism, we believe they try to be fair.
It is no secret that a feud of sorts exists between Bill O’Reilly and the Al Franken, now a Senator from Minnesota. We have taken O’Reilly at his word that Franken is not someone to be trusted.
However, we have been alerted to a Youtube video that is making us take a real look at Al Franken. We make it available below.
We don’t know the whole story of what has transpired between Jamie Leigh Jones and Mr. Mark de Bernardo. Part of the reason for this is that it has not appeared much at all on FoxNews. To be fair, we haven’t seen it on CNN either. But we don’t really have high expectations for CNN. We do have very high standards for FoxNews. We would hate to see these standards tarnished.
We have said a great deal about the mistreatment of Carrie Prejean. And we stand by our comments. But clearly what happened to Ms. Jones – and no one seems to be contesting the facts (that she was drugged, raped, gang raped, brutalized to the point of needing reconstructive surgery, etc.) – is far worse. Far worse. No comparison. In the Prejean case, a woman is stripped of a beauty pageant title and made fun of, while the Putz-in-Chief stands by and lets her take the arrows he could have deflected. OK – that’s bad.
But it doesn’t compare to gang rape and brutalization. Ask Ms. Prejean which she would rather have happen to her. Ask which you’d rather have happen to any woman you know and like.
If the law means anything, it means that we are protected in our person - that our safety is job one for the government.
Ms. Jones has been fighting for her day in court for four long years. And KBR has been doing its worst to keep that from happening. We call on FoxNews to bring this to the light of day. You were great in taking on the injustice committed against Carrie Prejean. It is high time – high time – you go after the bastards (excuse our French) who committed these atrocities against Ms. Jamie Leigh Jones. Anything short of this will knock down our esteem of FoxNews, quite signficantly.
We have been without a political home since George W. Bush tried to appease the Left. Are we now without a news media home? We hope not. We call on FoxNews to do the right thing. Bring light to Ms. Jones plight at least as much as you did for Carrie Prejean. Common decency and intellectual integrity require this of a fair and balanced news organization – even if it is Al Franken who brought this to our attention. Kudos to Mr. Franken.
And we wish Ms. Jones, and all the women she is fighting for the best.
