Day 427

This entry is perhaps our most important to date.

We were thoroughly disgusted by the Democrats who foisted the biggest boondoggle in American history on the American taxpayers. We were thoroughly disgusted by the process by which it was perpetrated, in complete disregard, if not outright defiance, of the American people who spoke in poll after poll, yelling from the rafters – “DON’T PASS THIS FREAKING BILL!”

We were increasingly angered by the false choice offered by the Democrats – either this stupid abomination or nothing.

And perhaps most of all, we were disgusted by the turncoat Democrats who talked a good game of being moderates, but when the time to stand up and be counted came, they let us down. Bart Stewpack – who we sort of respected, is now dead to us.

This is an open letter to any Democrat who truly gives a damn about America, and cares more about America than his or her idiot party. And make no mistake – it is an idiot party.

But it is worse: the Democrat Party is an evil entity. It is a cancer upon the American body politic and needs to be destroyed. Utterly, without hesitation – destroyed. If we had it our way, every member in the Democrat party would be exiled from this country, never to be allowed to return.

So here’s the deal: If you are currently a Democrat, you are hereby ordered to drop your party affiliation and become an Independent – beholden to no party leader. If you do not drop your party affiliation, it means that you stand with your party in all its malfeasance and evil. You cannot hide behind some “vote,” where you said “no” to the monstrosity that passed on Sunday.

For you to still be a Democrat means that you STILL agree with the process, which was as bad, if not worse, than the substance of the legislation. And if you agree with the process, you are not an American in our eyes. You can no longer be an American and a Democrat at the same time. To do so is akin to being a member in good standing with the KKK and trying to claim that you’re not in favor of lynchings, cross burnings, and other forms of racial bigotry. It cannot be done there; it can no longer be done in the Democrat party context. To be a Democrat from this point forward means you are not really an American. It means you are a progressive socialist – end of story.

If in your heart of hearts, you are not a progressive socialist, then you have no business being part of the Democrat party. That does not mean you have to become a Republican. We don’t recommend that either, because, while Republicans are Americans still, they are largely stupid and incompetent. So while it’s not evil to be a Republican – or a Libertarian – it’s not our preference.

OUR preference is that you grow and “I” as you kill the “D” associated with your name. Become an Independent. And then start publicly blasting the Democrats for abandoning America. You do that, and we’ll cheer you. You do this and we’ll have your back in November.

If you don’t do this, we will use every bit of persuasion and influence we have to wipe your political career into history’s dung heap. And if we have a chance of making your life a living hell, we will do that too.

The choice is clear: become an Independent and live free or remain a Democrat and betray a nation that is calling for patriots.

What is your choice, you Democrat lilly-livered putz?

An open letter to President Obama…

Mr. President,

We watched you give yet another speech tonight. Of course, this time, it was completely appropriate as it was the State of the Union speech. We haven’t had time to really examine it (transcripts and recordings), but we have some initial impressions.

#1 – You talk a good game; but it only works if people don’t remember 2009.  We, at O-t-c, do remember 2009, and we’re hanged if we’re going to let anyone else forget.

#2 – Your calls for bipartisanship ring hollower than a termite infested tree stump. Where were your calls for bipartisanship in 2009? Where was your effort to tell Nancy Pelosi and her demons to tone down the incivility and to bring Republicans and Independents to the table? We watched all year long for such efforts, Mr. President. They never ever happened.

#3 – For the first time in memory, you actually praised America and almost – almost – acknowledged our exceptionalism. Of course, you didn’t use that word. Why is that, Mr. President?

#4 – You said that you deserved some of the setbacks you received. But you didn’t itemize any of them? What setbacks did you deserve, Mr. President. We can think of many, but it would be good to hear it from you directly. What don’t you blame on the previous administration – besides your inability to articulate with sufficient clarity and persuasiveness how abominations like Pelosi’s and Reid’s health care atrocities would actually be good for us.

#5 – The surprise of the night: you actually went against your base and called for opening up nuclear power plants. A few of us had our jaws drop on that one. Ditto with the idea of opening up Federal lands for oil drilling. Of course, talk is cheap. We’ll be watching to see if you deliver.

#6 – Your spending freeze seems like a fraud to us. You said you’ll freeze spending in 2011. That gives you all of 2010 to hike the spending beyond any conceivable limit and then freeze it there.

#7 – During 2009 you said that there were hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud and waste to be removed from the health care system. Well – how about going after it, Mr. President. Show us the money! Why do we have to wait for health care deformity before you start enforcing the laws against fraud and doing the work of a good manager and reigning in the wasteful spending?

#8 – There were a few self-deprecating moments in the speech. You almost seemed human. We recommend you do more of that.

#9 – There’s a difference between going after something that’s right and dictating what that something should be. It is your fault that We the People don’t trust the health care deformation efforts. Your fault. You tried to ram it through – without giving anyone time to see what was in it – more than a thousand pages – before the August recess. Remember that? How was that transparent, Mr. President? On what basis were we supposed to trust the process, or you, or Pelosi – especially with you marginalizing and demonizing everyone who opposed you.

You don’t get off the hook, Mr. President, just because you give a mildly friendly speech. You have a lot of work to rebuild trust with we Independents. And if you want any of your legislative agenda to go through, without losing your party in November, you’d better start communicating straight with us and taking what we want into account. (Same for the Republicans.) We are tired of our choices being Tweedledee and Tweedledum. We want pragmatists who share our values. If you can’t manage that, Mr. President, then we recommend that you “get out of the way,” to coin a phrase.

Addendum: One more thought: We think that Nancy Pelosi, again, showed why we so despise her. As narcissistic as the President is, and we believe that he is exactly the person Carlie Simon was singing about with her song, “Your so vain, you probably think this song is about you…” But Pelosi? She makes Obama look like the most comfortable in his own skin; the least self-aggrandizing person in the world. There she was, preening every time the President said that the House had passed a bill. We felt like we were watching a toddler being told that she did a good job using the toilet. “What a good girl you are!”  Made us very queasy. Madam Speaker – you really need to get over yourself. You aren’t anything special other than to fellow stupids.  Oh – and Biden – the guy was nodding his head more than the bobble-headed versions of himself. It was like his neck was on a loose spring. Come on – you can’t be agreeing with every single word the President says in realtime. You at least should wait till he completes a thought, shouldn’t you? Geez.

Halle Berry and her boyfriend were whisked on through airport security, ahead of the rest of “the little people” there.

Maybe this is why all the Leftist celebrities are for Obamacare. They know that they’ll be whisked ahead of all the rest of us. They know that their little babies will be treated better than your little baby. And they know that their little babies will be treated with your tax dollars evnen through they could afford to buy their own health care.

But don’t you worry your little head about it. Obama has your back. [snicker]

Day 352

We heard on FoxNews today that part of the health dictatorship program that Congress and the President are trying to force down our throats (“Now open wide; this won’t hurt a bit. Oh – stop being a baby and take this trillion dollar syringe like a man!”) will be to give the IRS new powers.

Like we need a stronger IRS. Is there any agency anywhere in the United States that is more despised than the IRS? And these clowns want to make it even more powerful? Supposedly, you’re going to have to indicate somewhere on the form that you actually have purchased health insurance. We thought that no bureacracy was going to get between us and our doctors, Mr. President. Yet again, Joe Wilson was spot on with his language: “YOU LIE!”

During a brainstorm session recently, one of us quipped, “You know – I am more afraid of how much damage Obama and his legion of Neanderthals can do to this country than I am about Al Qaieda.”  She is joking (we think she is joking – she insists she’s not). But all joking aside, Obama is no joke. He is a living, walking, breathing ongoing malfeasance against the Constitution of this country.

If we lined up 10 kindergartner kids (who have not yet been brainwashed by the Left) and asked them about principles underlying the Constituion of this country, they’d give a more accurate picture than the President could after 3 hours of trying to explain himself with his calibrating-miscalibrating language.

We so wish that he, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid would take a small, propeller airplane to Antarctica. We’d buy it for them. We’re sure one of the science bases (Obama says he’s big on science – it is to laugh) would make space for them. If he and the other three would spend the next 3 years there, they could save the penguins, and America would have a chance to heal itself from these dreadful, despicable, unamerican people.

Please – Mister President – RESIGN!

Day 346

The ScienceDaily.com website (one of our favorite venues) has an entry about climate variability accounting for the colder than normal weather that the authors say has led some of us to doubt that global warming is real. They say, in effect, that even with a trend-line going up, one can expect variability around the trend-line.

We consider this last proposition reasonable. We agree, from the lay perspective we have, that climate appears as a highly variable set of processes and phenomena. So if global warming was real, we think it would be reasonable to see variability.

But the problem for climatologists, as distinct from environmentalists, is that climatology has been hijacked by the environmentalism movement, which is a quasi-religious, overtly-political, nothing-to-do-with science set of memes that undermine huge numbers of laypeople’s ability to ascertain real scientific endeavor from the political memes that attempt to mimic it. After all, those who think of CO2 as a villainous element should be required to calmly discuss this: http://bit.ly/6Tjat9 (also from ScienceDaily.com).

We at O-t-c have a great fondness and respect for scientific endeavor and for scientists generally – when the science is done per the scientific method. When it is politicized, we consider those involved to be on the order of Bernie Madoff – cheaters in the extreme, who deserve nothing but ridicule and imprisonment for trying to steal billions of dollars for their pet projects.

Do the right thing, boys and girls. Do the right thing.

- Off-the-cliff.com

We call on CLIMATOLOGISTS to start doing whatever they can to shut down the environmentalists in their midst and tell them to stand down, to stop making the science unintelligible. It is up to the CLIMATOLOGISTS and the METEOROLOGISTS to lay out methods of research (which would not be skewed toward showing that global warming was real, but would be aimed at finding out what is going on with weather and climate using null hypotheses and other generally accepted rubrics in the scientific method). Hyperbole, data suppression, data alteration, suppression of dissent, calling people you disagree with names, are the acts of those in the area of politics – not in the arena of science.

The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the ENVIRONMENTALISTS want to have taxpayers transfer enormous amounts of wealth to the have-nots because of their political memes. This is unacceptable, and CLIMATOLOGISTS should be at the vanguard of shutting this effort down.

As long as climatologists (and ecologists gtenerally) do not distinguish themselves from and distance themselves from the environmentalism religo-political movement, laypeople around the world will be correctly suspicious.
